Lake Orta Italy Holiday Hotel?
Lake Orta is located in northern Italy, just west of Lake Maggiore. It’s held that name since the 16th century, but it was actually known as the Lago di San Giulio, named after Saint Julius of the 4th Century, who is the patron saint for the area.
Lake Orta has some of the best kept secrets in the area and it’s time for everyone to start to experience this wonderful region.
It has the typical Italian scenery, with some very picturesque buildings too.
Lake Orta is very accessible while touring the Tuscany countryside and offers many chances for great photography and memories to be made.
Lake Orta is surrounded by Orta San Giulio, which is located on a peninsula close to the east shore, Omgna is located at the northern most part of the lake, Pettanasco to the east, and Pella is located to the west.
Lake Orta is supposedly part of a very large sheet of water that once flowed south towards Novara. However, as the glaciers retreated, the water levels sank, and gradually diverted into Lake Maggiore. Though it is just a minor star in the large constellation of sub-alpine lakes, this lake receives a lot of the fascination rather than the larger lakes in the area, but is still one of the lesser known lakes.
The lake and the region itself has been a favorite holiday location for Italians and international tourists alike for quite a while now, and this is ode to the beauty of the natural landscape, interesting history and plentiful artistic treasures left behind by the Romans and Baroque.
Lake Orta has often been described as mythical and mysterious, and many artists have claimed this lake changed their lives after taking a holiday here. It is truly magnificent and has been known to Italian couples as a great romantic get-away.
When taking a holiday in the Lake Orta region, keep in mind that there is lots of food to enjoy, superb wine to drink, wonderful sights to see, and unique items to purchase as a memento. The food in the Lake Orta region is delicious, and has the perfect wine pairing to go with it. When finding your way through the shopping district, it can be quite easy to get lost in the wonderful structure of the market, and come prepared, because you will surely want to buy everything in sight!
Taking a boat out on the lake itself is a wonderful experience and one that should be had by all. For an even better experience, rent a rowboat and coast along the lake without a care in the world. The best part of Lake Orta is that it is relatively unknown still, despite its wonderful features.
